Anitha Thampi
About
Anitha Thampi is a Malayalam poet, translator and essayist from the state of Kerala, India. Critically acclaimed within and outside of India, her work has been widely translated into a number of languages and has appeared in various journals and anthologies worldwide.
She has published five collections of poetry: Muttamatikkumpol (While Sweeping the Front Yard, 2004), Azhakillaathavayellam (All That Are Bereft of Beauty, 2010), Alappuzha Vellam (Alappuzha Water, 2016), a trilingual co-authored collection, A Different Water (2018), and Muringa Vazha Kariveppu (Moringa Plantain Curry Leaves, 2023).
She has two collections of essays: Ethal (Arrival, 2025) and Ethanamennilla Ethendathumilla (Don't Need to Arrive, Don't Have to Arrive Too, 2026).
Her major translations include the writings of Juan Ramón Jiménez, Carlo Collodi, Les Murray and Mourid Barghouti.
She lives and works in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
